Olwyn’s story is characteristic of most horsewomen; she was raised around horses – cared for them, rode them, trained them, showed them, taught others to ride them. Her enthusiasm for horses never waned, and out of high school, Olwyn was accepted into Moorpark College’s Equine Program where she earned her Associate of Science degree in Horse Husbandry. She went on to become a well-loved and respected instructor to riders of all ages at Elvenstar Farms.
Fast-forward a few years and Olwyn found herself blessed with a wonderful husband and as the mother of three rambunctious boys. Looking to dedicate more time to raising her family, a new career emerged as an Architectural Landscaper/certified Master Gardener and environmental steward, yet Olwyn vowed that she would one day return to her ‘home’ at the barn. In pursuit of further higher learning at UCLA Extension, Olwyn became keenly aware of how one’s environment and associated experiences greatly affect the well-being of all individuals, particularly adolescents and young adults.
